Reflections

Hi Everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. It was a pretty busy weekend in our household. My husband and I are currently renovating our bathroom and we got a lot accomplished over the weekend. I'll share more about that on a separate post. Sunday I did manage to squeeze in a fun craft. If you have a love for Orchids like I do then this craft is right up your alley. It all started with this picture.

I saw this faux orchid plant while browsing around in Dillards one day. I wasn't really thrilled with the quality of the flowers but even more so by the price tag. This baby was priced at $89.99!!! I thought that was a bit steep. Fast forward a month or so later. I was in Dillards again and noticed the plant was still there. This time is was marked down to $59.99. Better but still not good enough for my frugal(broke) self. So I decided to recreate it!. I'm so happy with how it turned out and it all came in under $30 for 2 of them!. I want to give a BIG THANKS to Karen over at The Art of Doing Stuff. She came up with the great idea of using the mirrors from the Dollar Tree to make the planter with. You can view her instructions HERE or view mines below.

I created two separate planters to better resemble my inspiration photo. The great thing about that is you can have them paired like I have them or you can separate them and put them in different places. I was also thinking how great would this be for a wedding? or bridal shower? if you place tea lights around the base of the planter the reflection of the candle light would be so beautiful. Hmmmm ideas possibly for my BFF's wedding next year. Let me know how yours turns out, where you plan on placing it, and if you did anything different. I'm curious to know:). I'll be placing these beauties in my new bathroom once it's complete. Can't wait to share more about that later with you guys.

  2. Thanks:) I'm going to put it in the bathroom once it's done. On top of the counter between the 2 sinks.
